Hello everybody,

I would like you to know that we have officially released the first milestone of opentaps 1.5, opentaps 1.5M1, and it is available for download on SourceForge now.

Since we we just released opentaps 1.4 recently, you might want to know "why  we  another release so soon?"

The main reason is that since opentaps 1.4, we have made a lot of improvements to help you get up and running with opentaps faster:

* install a "base template" database for opentaps, with a generic company, store, warehouse, which you can quickly customize for your business through the administrative user interface
* copy over a chart of accounts template for your company
* import your data, including products, suppliers, but I customers, inventory
* import sales leads in opentaps CRM

You can now do all this through the web user interface and get your company up and running with opentaps without any code changes or modifying XML files.

There are also some other important enhancements, including a more extensible domains directory for the domains driven architecture, new configuration entities, and configurable security for opentaps that I wrote about in my last quarterly update.  Finally, this version includes the full set of new Chinese translations for opentaps.

We are now working on an official version 1.5 release, but in the meantime, please enjoy 1.5M1!

I swapped out to the new code

I swapped out to the new code by only replacing /opentaps-1.5M1/framework/entity/config/entityengine.xml with my personalized (passwords) 1.4 entityengine.xml file and then ran "./ant" -- all ok.

Great update!

That's about all it takes.

That's about all it takes.  You might want to $ ant run-install-seed just to be sure all the seed data is installed.
